Halloween 2011

Between Mason, Cooper or both, Halloween was a four day event at the Voth household this year.  It started Friday when Mason had his Harvest Party with his first grade friends at school.  Mom also got to celebrate at work with a Harvest Party activity:)

On Saturday, we had our friends over for the 4th Annual Halloween Party.  The boys had a lot of fun playing with friends.

The After Party:)
On Sunday, we headed to Emily & Erik's for some cousin time in costumes.

On Monday, Cooper celebrated with a Halloween Party at Anna's Bananas.  That evening it was time for the main event.  Both boys were VERY excited to Trick or Treat.  Cooper went with Mason to a couple of houses and then helped hand out candy for the rest of the evening.  He got mad when Mom handed out treats instead of him:)  Mason scored lots of treats from our neighbors and was very proud of his loot.  Both boys had a great night!

Phineas & Ferb Live!

After a long wait and lots of Cooper inquiring "Is Candance going to be there?", it was finally time to head to the Xcel Energy Center for Phineas & Ferb Live.  Cooper sat still (surprisingly) in amazement, excitedly let us know when the characters arrived and clapped after the songs.  Mason thoroughly enjoyed the performance of his favorite Phineas & Ferb songs and had a huge smile on his face the entire time.  The days that followed the performance included a lot of "remember when" moments.  We all had an amazing time!

Cross Country "Meet"

Parents were invited to Meadowview for a Cross Country Meet.  Corey and I ventured out into the cold (with a few flurries) to watch Mason and the rest of the first graders run in this "meet."    We thoroughly enjoyed the student spirit as their cheered on their classmates.  After three heats of first graders, the parents were invited onto the course for a family walk.  Great event!

Adventures in Potty Training, Part II

A number of weeks ago, Cooper's teachers decided it was time to work on potty training with Coop.  Coop's best friend Ethan was going to start potty training and they thought it was going to be a great idea to potty train them together.  While I had thought about working on potty training, if Cooper was anything like his brother, we were a long way from this becoming a reality.  Coop started wearing pull ups and using the potty with great frequency.  Finally we got the note home that said it was time for underwear (or underware:) ).

I guess it was time for us to fully commit to this potty training thing and accept that this is happen much sooner than Mason.  So beginning today, Coop is an underwear kid!

Corn Maze 2011

Almost the entire Voth crew (we missed you Chad) headed to Sever's Corn Maze in Shakopee for a day of family fun.  With a maze, tractor, pony rides, petting zoo and corn pit, there was plenty of fun had by all!

First Grade Conferences

Many of you know our struggles with Kindergarten, so going into our first First Grade conference, I was not sure what to expect.  What we got was a wonderful conference and were rewarded after last years struggles.  We got to hear what a smart, sweet and well behaved boy we have.  While there are areas he needs to work on, overall he is well above where he needs to be at this point in first grade.

In addition,  his teacher shared with us a story that simply warmed our hearts and made us even more proud of him.  One of Mason's Fourth Grade Buddies is a boy with disabilities.  After their first time together, this boys teacher made it a point to visit with Mason's teacher to tell her how excited she was that this student was paired with Mason.  She said that Mason interacted with this boy so well and helped him out with their activities.  We are glad to know that he has such a great heart and ability to interact with anyone.

Way to go Mason!

School Stars

Mason was Star of the Week this week.  He was very proud to have his pictures up in Ms. Heuser's room along with sharing his favorite book, game and stuffed animal.  He even brought in his baseball trophy to show his first grade friends.

Cooper was the Star of the Month for October in the Two's Room at Anna's Bananas.  He was a fan of having lots of pictures of himself at school too!
